SYNOPSIS
Seit 1994 kennen wir Regisseure La Graciosa, inzwischen offiziell als achte Insel der Kanarenanerkannt. Ein Status, für den die ca. 600 ständig in einem einzigen Dorf lebenden Einwohner viele Jahre gekämpft haben.
Wer konnte damals ahnen, welche dramatischen Veränderungen die Menschen auf La Graciosa in den nächsten drei Jahrzehnten erleben würden?
La Graciosa ist ein einzigartiger Mikrokosmos.
Unterschiedliche Bewohner des Dorfes, zu denen wir im Laufe der Jahre ein vertrauensvolles Verhältnis aufgebaut haben, sind die Protagonisten des Films. Diese beleuchten wichtige aktuelle gesellschaftlich Themen: die Gleichstellung der Frau, die Bedeutung kommunaler Selbstverwaltung, den Schutz von Natur und Umwelt, die Entwicklung alternativer Formen eines ökologisch verträglichen Tourismus, Fragen des sozialen Miteinanders, Respekt vor der Lebensleistung der älteren Generation, Verlust von Traditionen.
Eine Liebeserklärung an die Lebenslust und den Widerstandsgeist der Menschen auf der Insel, die sich wie ein bekanntes gallisches Dorf kämpferisch und gewitzt gegen die übergeordnete Verwaltung auf Lanzarote, die kanarische Regional- und spanische Zentralregierung zur Wehr
setzen!
Und überhaupt: Gibt es das Paradies auf Erden? Nicht alle Träume können in Erfüllung gehen ...
Desde 1994 conocemos La Graciosa, reconocida oficialmente como la octava isla de las Canarias.
Un estatus por el que los aproximadamente 600 habitantes
que viven permanentemente en un único pueblo han luchado durante muchos años.
¿Quién podía imaginar entonces los dramáticos cambios que viviría la población
de La Graciosa en las tres décadas siguientes? La Graciosa es un microcosmos único.
Los protagonistas de la película son los diferentes habitantes del pueblo,
con los que hemos establecido una relación de confianza a lo largo de los años.
Estos ponen de relieve importantes temas sociales de actualidad: la igualdad de la mujer,
la importancia de la autonomía municipal, la protección de la naturaleza y el medio ambiente,
el desarrollo de formas alternativas de turismo ecológico, las cuestiones de convivencia social,
el respeto por los logros de la generación mayor y la pérdida de las tradiciones.
Una declaración de amor a la alegría de vivir y al espíritu de resistencia de los habitantes de la isla,
que, como un conocido pueblo gala, se defienden con combatividad
e ingenio contra la administración superior de Lanzarote,
el Gobierno regional de Canarias y el Gobierno central español.
Y, en general: ¿existe el paraíso en la Tierra?

We have known La Graciosa, now officially recognized as the eighth island of the Canaries, since 1994. It is a status for which the approximately 600 inhabitants, who live in a single village, fought for many years. Who could have guessed at the time what dramatic changes the people of La Graciosa would experience over the next three decades?
La Graciosa is a unique microcosm. The protagonists of the film are the diverse inhabitants of the village, with whom we have built up a relationship of trust over the years. They shed light on important current social issues: gender equality, the importance of local self-government, the protection of nature and the environment, the development of alternative forms of ecologically compatible tourism, questions of social coexistence, respect for the life achievements of the older generation, and the loss of traditions.
A declaration of love for the zest for life and spirit of resistance of the people on the island, who, like a well-known Gallic village, fight back with determination and wit against the higher authorities in Lanzarote, the Canary Islands regional government, and the Spanish central government! And anyway: does paradise exist on earth? Not all dreams can come true...
